The Dreaded Mirror – Chapter 5

No Fixer Uppers!

I’m going to change the world! What a grandiose thought! Can it be done? Yes. Start with yourself.

Will you ever find love? Again, yes, but as the old saying goes: “Know thine own self…”

Avoid “fixer-uppers” at all cost. You can’t fix them.  With God’s help, the only person you can fix is yourself.  Does the term Equally Yoked come to mind?  Here’s a soul mate Bible verse for you:

(LB) James 1:23, “For if a person just listens and doesn’t obey, he is like a man looking at his face in a mirror; as soon as he walks away, he can’t see himself anymore or remember what he looks like.”

Take a good look at yourself in the mirror. Not to fix your hair or last minute adjustments to your eye shadow, but look into your own eyes and into your own soul. Who are you? Do you know?  And who do you want to be?  A great place to start your journey in finding your soul mate is an encounter with the dreaded mirror. There are great stories to go with this chapter in Finding Your Soul Mate, God’s Way.

Embrace Your Flaws, We all Have Them!

Even Hollywood actors hate “close up” shots. They intimidate actors and actresses alike whether or not they think they are beautiful, handsome, plain, too thin or too fat.  Close ups reveal flaws in them, in you and in me. Deciding to actually take that close up look in the mirror is, among other things, character building. It takes courage and strength on your part to honestly evaluate who you  are, what needs adjusting in your life and what you want to become. Your soul mate will also have flaws!

The Bible says that we are made in the image of God and that we are uniquely and wonderfully made. Remember that as you take the close up look at yourself.

The Bench Mark

“God, when will I find my soul mate?” First, become the person He wants you to be and…He will give you the desires of your heart. When God makes a promise, He always gives you to path to the promise as in bench marks.

His bench mark for men is Ephesians 5 and the bench mark for women is written in Proverbs 31. I saw a message on Facebook from a woman that stated, ” In today’s society, it is impossible to be a Proverbs 31 woman…” I could feel her frustration. Change isn’t easy. And, immediately I thought of Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” With His help, the only person you can fix is you. God will find your soul mate for you. Just be patient and trust in Him.
