Excerpts Chapter 8–The Desert
God’s Training Ground
(LB) Hosea 2:14-15,”But I will court her again, and bring her into the desert, and speak to her tenderly there. I will give back her vineyards to her, and transform her Valley of Troubles into a Door of Hope.”
In Chapter 8 of the book Finding Your Soul Mate, God’s Way, the word desert comes from the Hebrew word dahbaar, which means to speak. You don’t have to actually go to a desert to hear His voice, you just back out of society for awhile and spend time with Him in your own virtual desert.
The desert is where you bury your past hurts, heartaches, tribulations and tears. Spend as much time there as you need to do this and when you have buried your burdens, you will walk back into society with a different attitude of trusting in Him to supply all of your needs…In Matthew 6:33, Jesus says, “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness; and all of these things will be given to you.
All means peace, joy, love and yes, even a soul mate. Believe, pray and receive. But, you have 4 things to do: 1. Seek (Him), 2. First (Making God your priority) 3. The kingdom of God (becoming His child) 4. His righteousness (changing your life and living according to His word) . THEN, all of these things will be added unto you–not before.
Find Your Faith/Know Your Enemy
Most all of God’s prophets had to spend time in the desert, God’s training grounds. Moses, David, Isaiah, Elijah and even God’s Son, Jesus spent time in the desert. And look how God prepared and used them later in life.
When Jesus was in the desert for 40 days without food or water, Satan tempted Him three times, offering the entire world to Jesus if He would just bow down to him. Jesus quoted scripture 3 times and the devil had to flee. Jesus went on to offer salvation to the entire world. But, he had to go through trials and tribulations in the desert first. The devil is here to steal, kill and destroy your dreams. Know that!
Don’t fear the desert, it is a place of solitude, for listening and for transforming your life before getting back into society. You will be a better you! I went to Army Boot Camp in the New Mexico desert and I thought it would kill me. Eight weeks later, I was strong, in shape and was ready to tackle anything or anyone that came against me. Your will feel the same after spending some quiet time with God.
(KJV) Isaiah 51:3B, “He will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the Lord; joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving and the voice of melody.” Book your trip to the desert today!
