Excerpts, Chapter 9–Spit in One Hand, Wish in the Other
Where Do You Seek Your Soul Mate?
(LB) Deuteronomy 18:10-11-”No one may practice black magic, or call on the evil spirits for aid, or be a fortune teller, or be a serpent charmer, medium or wizard, or call forth the spirits of the dead. Anyone doing these things is an object of horror and disgust to the Lord.”
Before writing my own book on how to find your soul mate—God’s Way—I bought several of the “best sellers” on the subject. I was absolutely appalled at the advice people were writing about in order to direct others to the path of their one and only just for you, soul mate.
I read words of wisdom such as: “I sifted through my astrological readings…”, “My bedroom was a place of romance and love making…,”I hung crystals in the corner..”, “I went to a reading with a famous psychic to find my soul mate…”, “If it’s been a long time since you have had sex, find a filler or an opener until you feel confident again…”, “Pray to the universe!” Such malarkey!
Why would I want to pray to the universe when it has no ears to hear me or any understanding of who I am and what I want?
The Law of Attraction
When I read the law of attraction—which contends that because of our connection with a ‘universal energy force,” our thoughts and feelings have the ability to manipulate this energy force to our liking, with the ability to bring us love, fame and fortune,—my first thought was, “Yeah, that’s like spitting in one hand and wishing in the other to see which one fills up first!
The books went on to explain the power of positive thinking and how you could think your way to finding your soul mate. Here’s what God has to say on the subject: Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord, “plans for good and not evil. Plans to give you a future and a hope.” Faith in God is Positive Thinking. He invented it. The universe does not place soul mates in your path, God does.
Here’s a quick acid test to ask yourself about the person you are dating (whether or not they are the one). Does this person make you feel closer to God or do they separate you from God? It’s a simple question to ask yourself, then make you own decision as to continue the relationship or move on. Just remember, even Satan can disguise himself as an angel of light. Are you in the light with your relationship or deceived by the darkness?
