Lord, You want Me to do What!?

Unguarded Openness

KJN) 1 John 4:18-There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out all fear; because fear has torment. He that fears is not made perfect in love

How many people have you met that have been hurt by someone in matters of the heart? That would include just about all of us. One of the first things people do when they suffer a broken heart is to build a wall around it for self-protection.

Dr. Edwin Young, pastor of a large church in Houston said in a 1999 sermon, “Intimacy is unguarded openness. We must learn to receive love as well as to give love. You must become vulnerable. You cannot remain guarded and expect someone else to open up to you. You must become personally involved with others and your willingness must precede your involvement. A servant of God takes risks.

This doesn’t mean that you just dive right back into a relationship. It means, as stated in Proverbs 4:23 “Above all else, guard your affections. For they influence everything else in your life.”  You use the wisdom God gives to you to guard your affections, not your heart. It must be open in order for someone else to open up to you.

A Spirit of Fear & Timidity Does Not Come from God

Joyce Meyer, TV evangelist, stated three fears that most of us encounter almost daily and their solutions: 1. “First we fear the trials and tribulations that are before us every day. Don’t! Embrace them, face them head on knowing that Christ is at our side. When you face your fears, you overcome them.”

Second Fear: “We fear not getting what we want when we want it.. We compound our problems and make them worse. We mix fear with self-centeredness, frustration and impatience. Solution: God will give you what you need, when you need it. Patience is a great tool against fear.

Third Fear: “We all have fears of being imperfect. Get used to it, you are not perfect and will never meet another person who is perfect. Praise God for who He made you to be and be yourself! You are members of the Royal Family of the Most High God! Act like it.”

Here’s two quick areas for you to think about and meditate upon. Faith is described ,”…as being certain of what we do not see…” Simply stated, fear is unbelief or weak belief. Now really take this next one to heart and practice daily: “Matthew 6:34–Don’t worry about tomorrow. Tomorrow will take care of itself. Live one day at a time.”

Drop the wall around your heart, guard your affections, have faith not fear and when God is enough in your life, He will do the rest by sending that perfect person for you to you. Have a Blessed Week…Ron
