Reader E-Mails for Advice
I Have Found My Soul Mate!
Since I have just concluded excerpts from each chapter of the book, Finding Your Soul Mate, God’s Way, (all available on www.soulmategodsway.com) I decided to write this blog on some of the emails that I get from readers asking for advice. Without mentioning any names or details, this email really got to me. See what you think.
I truly loved the opening line of this lady’s email: “I have found my soul mate!” It really gave me joy. She went on to say that she was a Christian lady and that she had patiently waited for nine years for God to send her the perfect soul mate just for her. I could feel the hope in her words. She was literally filled with happiness.
She described the man as a fellow employee. He was bright, smart, handsome, great dresser, had a great career before him and really made her laugh. She had not gone out with him but had spent a couple of years working with him in their office environment. Slowly, she began to notice him from all of the other men and took an interest. She said that she “casually flirted with him, using body language” to see if his interest was the same as her interest in him…At this point I was thinking, “You go girl!”

(LB) Proverbs 4:23, “Above all else, guard your emotions. For they influence everything else in your life.”
“I just need some advice: He is married! And I know that he is not happy in his marriage. I also know that he is my soul mate sent to me by God Himself.” Ouch!!! That’s a game changer sweet sister in Christ.
As much as I hurt for her feelings, I had to tell her the truth, according to God’s Word, not mine. I told her about wedding vows: “In sickness and in health, for richer or poorer, in good times and in bad, till death do us part…And, what God has joined together, let no man (or woman) separate…” Those are Holy Vows made to God, whether or not our society believes in them.
In loving kindness, I had to be fairly blunt and say, “This man is not your soul mate. He is the soul mate of his wife and she is his soul mate, according to God’s Word.”
I went on to encourage her saying that God does have a soul mate just for her, in His timing and His choices. She had to be patient, be aware of others around her and have faith. Faith is belief in what you can’t see ahead of you. God knows the plans He has for us and in Jeremiah 29:11 (one of my favorite verses), He says, “For I know the plans I have for you. Plans for good and not evil (plans to prosper you and not harm you), plans to give you a future and a hope…”
If you have questions or comments, just email me at firstname.lastname@example.org . I’ll be happy to give you His advice—If you want to hear it. In my years in singles ministry, I have figured out one thing from many, not all: They “get it,” they just don’t want it!” The Bible says, “Trust no man, trust in Him.”
