The Top 10 Love Songs?
The Top 10 Love Songs?
Billboard magazine listed their Top Ten Love Songs of all time. Can you name them? Do you agree with Bill board magazine: Here’s their list:
#10. I Can’t Stop Loving You–Ray Charles (1962)
#9. Best of My Love–The Emotions (1977)
#8. Because I Love You (The Postman Song)–Stevie B (1990)
#7. Let Me Love You–Mario (2005)
#6. I Will Always Love You–Whitney Houston (1992)
#5. Silly Love Songs–Wings (1976)
#4. How Deep is Your Love–Bee Gees (1977)
#3. We Found Love–Rhianna (2011)
#2. I’ll Make Love to You–Boyz II Men (1994)
Before we get to Billboard’s # 1, do you remember the old song—which didn’t make the Top 10—entitled, “Who Wrote the Book of Love?” by the doo wop, one-hit wonders, The Monotones? Here’s your answer: God, who describes Himself as “I AM Love,” wrote the Book of Love. It’s called The Song of Solomon or The Song of Songs! How ironic—The Song of Songs! And Billboard completely missed it. And, if Billboard goes on total sales and revenues of a song as criteria for the top 10, just think about this: The Song of Songs is in The Bible. It has sales over 7 billion—that’s with a “B.”
The Desires of Your Heart
(NIV) “Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.”
Have you, sought first the kingdom of God and His righteousness so all of these things can be added to you? (Like a soul mate!) If so, He has fulfilled His promise to you. Arrive and claim your prize! Your Soul Mate! Spend a few minutes reading how touching, how deep, how pure is the love that God wrote about in the Song of Songs between Solomon and the Shulamite woman. It’s hot, it’s steamy and dreamy, it describes practically every inch of the Shulamite woman’s body during a peek in at their wedding night. Danielle Steele can’t touch this one! Love God’s Way is perfect. Not with perfect people but with the one person perfect for you.
While reading this great book, just remember that God wrote it. He is the author of the entire Bible. God’s description of a soul mate is when 1 + 1 = 1, or when two become one. In Solomon’s case, since he had 700 wives, we could offer up another equation: 700 + 1 = Complete Chaos!!! Would you agree?
The # 1 Love Song of All Time
Just before listing Billboard’s # 1 Love Song of All Time, I would like to disagree and back it up with this challenge: What child in the entire world does not know the words to the song, “Jesus Loves Me.” This should be the # 1 Love Song of All Time! Billboard Magazine says, and it too is a great song, that “Endless Love” by Diana Ross and Lionel Richie (1981) is the # 1 Love song. It was # 1 for nine weeks. “Jesus Loves Me” has been number 1 for centuries in the hearts and minds of little children all over the world. Which one would you vote for?
